Today's NYT has a Paul Krugman column in which he calls the Bush Administration on its mistakes -
1. Missing the opportunity to expand eligibility for more veterans to receive medical care from the highly functioning and efficient Veterans Health Administration medical benefits;
2. Increasing subsidies to the poorly performing Medicare Advantage programs that have failed to improve care and cost taxpayers more than traditional Medicare.
Sounds like more of what we've come to expect from this administration: back away from public programs that work and direct the money to programs that funnel money to Republican interest groups.
