On a ride yesterday to Hunter's Point, I found that the Illinois St. Bridge over Islais Creek is bikeable! The design may not be perfect, but they took bikes into consideration during the design and construction.
2. The southbound bike lane emerges from the shared bikepath/sidewalk as you leave the bridge and get back on the roadway.
3. Muni crosses Islais Creek on the 3rd St. Bridge, as seen from Illinois St. bridge
4. After passing over the Illinois St. Bridge, take a short ride down to the end of Cargo Way and check out the native plants at Heron's Head Park.

On the heels of past successes - a big community rally on February 27, and approval of speed limit reduction on April 18 - the FixMasonic community effort took another step forward on Tuesday, April 29. As reported in the SF Chronicle, a judge authorized the city to move forward with safety improvements despite an injunction related to the city's bicycle plan. Veteran Chron reporter Rachel Gordon writes that "the plan calls for adding a left turn lane on westbound Fell at Masonic and changing the traffic signals to better separate vehicles from pedestrians and cyclists."
